The narrator, Katie Krentz reminisces through the summer after her freshman year at Indiana University. She describes the relationship she had with her childhood friend Luke, who understood her. Then she describes a mix tape Luke made her that was a perfect example of their bond. Through the years they had split and lost touch but she still has the tape. She describes how the tape isn’t about Luke or her but the understandment and comfort she needed that year.
